PG&E Appoints Sumeet Singh as Vice President in Gas Operations

PCG

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) announced today the appointment of Sumeet Singh as Vice President of Asset and Risk Management in Gas Operations. Previously, Singh served as Senior Director of Asset Knowledge Management and Integrity Management, where he led the effort to successfully close out critical National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) recommendations, including the verification of the Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure for gas transmission pipelines, that came as a result of its investigation into the 2010 pipeline accident in San Bruno. Singh's promotion fills the vacancy left by Jane Yura, who retired from the company on January 31, 2014.

"Sumeet's experience and leadership will continue to be instrumental in the incredible progress we are making as we work toward our goal of having the safest and most reliable natural gas system in America," said Nick Stavropoulos, PG&E's executive vice president of Gas Operations.

Singh joined PG&E in 2000 as an engineer and worked in various natural gas distribution and transmission engineering roles before briefly leaving the company in 2006 to pursue his MBA. Singh returned to PG&E in 2008 and took on leadership roles within the Finance and Energy Procurement functions. He rejoined Gas Operations in 2010 and has since been leading the company's efforts to deliver accurate, traceable, verifiable, and complete gas pipeline records. In his new role, Singh will oversee all aspects of records management; developing a clear understanding among employees of codes and standards; identifying and managing risk, based on a rigorous approach to understanding PG&E's natural gas system; and leveraging technology to enhance and streamline operations.

Singh received his Master's in Business Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles, and his Bachelors in Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.  He is a registered professional engineer in the State of California. Singh's appointment is effective immediately.
