Study Shows 100 Percent ROI on Emerson Data Center Infrastructure Management within 13 Months

EMR

Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) and a global leader in maximizing availability, capacity and efficiency of critical infrastructure, today announced that a Total Economic Impact (TEI) study found that Emerson’s data center infrastructure management (DCIM) platform can achieve 100 percent return on investment (ROI) in just 13 months.

The commissioned study, conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of Emerson, analyzed data from and interviewed 12 Emerson Network Power customers, including a global bank customer – with offices in the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Australia and the U.S. – who was chosen as the focus for a detailed case study. The customer has three data centers which total more than 6,000 square feet, including one data center specifically designed for disaster recovery. The ROI analysis found that the customer captured $1.6 million in total benefits in three years.

Among those benefits were increased system availability, improved productivity with remote management, and reduced power consumption and energy savings:

  • DCIM enabled an increase in availability by 20 hours per year, capturing more than $1.2 million in downtime-related costs alone over the three-year period.
  • The customer saved more than five hours a day through centralized management of its three data centers. Remote management allowed savings of travel-related costs reaching almost $39,000 a year, and allowed the customer to build out a new data center while saving time as well as workforce management expenses of nearly $95,000.
  • Emerson’s DCIM solution also reduced power consumption and related energy costs by $10,600 per year.

“The ability to verify ROI is top of mind for our customers, and the time-to-payback can be a major factor in the decision process,” said Scott Barbour, executive vice president of Emerson Network Power. “We know our DCIM solutions bring significant savings to customers, and now we have a study that, in our opinion, validates these benefits. We are excited to provide potential DCIM customers with similar ROI measurement and analysis to help them justify expenditures.”

The Total Economic Impact™ of the Emerson DCIM Solution is the published DCIM payback analysis.
