Evolution Fresh customers in the Midwest now have more access to
delicious and nutritious, cold-pressed juice in more than 360
Chicagoland company-operated Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX) stores. This
expansion into the Midwest’s largest market advances Evolution Fresh
growth plans to increase its national presence and market share in the
$1.6 billion super-premium juice category. The Evolution Fresh business
continues to grow steadily and is now readily available in more than
9,000 Starbucks stores and grocery retailers nationwide.

“We’ve been looking forward to introducing Evolution Fresh juices in
Chicago area Starbucks stores and anticipate enthusiastic customer
support,” said Chris Bruzzo, senior vice president and general manager
for Evolution Fresh. “With the opening of our new state-of-the art
juicery this past October, we have been able to quadruple the production
of Evolution Fresh cold-pressed juices, allowing for greater
distribution and accessibility to on-the-go nutrition for our customers.”
Taking a different approach, Evolution Fresh™ juices are cold-pressed
using high pressure processing (HPP) for safety and to help protect
nutrients and flavor. According to Datamonitor Consumer’s global
Consumer Survey, 55 percent of respondents said that they are trying to
eat as many vegetables as possible, making fruit and vegetable juices
increasingly appealing in 2014.1 By continuing to expand
distribution at Starbucks stores and grocery retailers, Evolution Fresh
boosts accessibility to nutritious and delicious cold-pressed juice
throughout the U.S., including the Midwest’s largest market of Chicago.
Carrying six of the most popular varieties of juice, Chicagoland
Starbucks stores will also stock the brand’s top selling green juice,
Sweet Greens with Lemon. The suggested retail price of Evolution Fresh
juice ranges from $2.99 - $6.99 (15.2 fl. oz.).

Evolution Fresh to Continue Starbucks Expansion throughout 2014
In addition to Chicago, other areas benefiting from Midwest distribution
include most of Illinois, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Detroit,
Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Cleveland. Following the expansion of
Evolution Fresh juices in Chicago and greater Midwest Starbucks stores,
the brand plans to continue nationwide distribution of Evolution Fresh
through U.S. company-operated Starbucks stores throughout 2014. In
October 2013, the brand opened a new, state-of-the-art juicery which
allowed Evolution Fresh to significantly increase innovation, production
and distribution capacity. The $70 million, 264,000-square-foot juicery
is one of the largest HPP juiceries in the U.S. capable of sourcing,
peeling, squeezing and pressing raw fruits and vegetables.
