COLUMBUS, Ga., Feb. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Aflac, the leading provider of voluntary insurance in the United States and a 2013 FORTUNE Blue Ribbon Company, has again been recognized by FORTUNE magazine as a World's Most Admired Company. This is the 13th time that Aflac has appeared on this prestigious list. The annual survey, conducted by FORTUNE and Hay Group, a global management consulting firm, is given to top executives, directors and financial analysts, to identify the companies that enjoy the strongest reputations within their industries and across industries.   Aflac ranked No. 1 in the Insurance Life and Health category for the second consecutive year.

"Being named a FORTUNE World's Most Admired Company for the 13th time provides strong validation that Aflac consistently does things the right way for our customers and shareholders," Aflac Chairman and CEO Dan Amos said. "We have a reputation for paying claims fast, which guides our success, so we are pleased that these survey results confirm the effectiveness of our business model."

In addition to being ranked No. 1 in the Insurance Life and Health category, Aflac took top honors in the innovation, long-term investment and global competitiveness sub categories within the industry.

According to FORTUNE, the World's Most Admired Companies list is the definitive report card on corporate reputations.  To compile the rankings, corporate reputation and performance are measured against nine key attributes: innovation, people management, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment, quality of products and services, and global competitiveness.

The World's Most Admired Companies list can be found on the FORTUNE website. The list will appear in FORTUNE magazine's February 27, 2014, print edition. For more information on how the rankings are determined, please view the full methodology on Hay Group's website.
