AT&T Enhances Gameday Mobile Internet Coverage In Assembly Hall At Indiana University

T, CCI

New 4G LTE Distributed Antenna System Provides Additional Wireless Capacity for Customers on Gamedays

BLOOMINGTON, Ind., March 5, 2014 AT&T* has improved its mobile Internet coverage in Assembly Hall at Indiana University (IU) by joining the arena's new 4G LTE-capable** Distributed Antenna System (DAS) to enhance the fan experience. The neutral host system deployed by Crown Castle International Corp. (NYSE:CCI) is designed to accommodate multiple carriers.  When a big play happens at Assembly Hall, basketball fans can expect to enjoy an enhanced mobile experience as they pull out their wireless device to share the most exciting moments with friends and family.

"When our customers head out to Assembly Hall to cheer on the Hoosiers, we want them to have a great network experience throughout the game no matter what they're doing – whether that's making a call, sharing via social media, downloading apps or surfing the Internet," said AT&T Indiana President Bill Soards. "With initiatives like Project VIP, we're continuing to invest in the wireless network, and providing enhanced wireless coverage at Assembly Hall is just one way that we're investing in Bloomington and Indiana."

"The Assembly Hall DAS is part of an overall plan to improve cellular capability across campus and we are pleased that IU basketball fans will have improved service in this storied arena," said Dennis Cromwell, IU Associate Vice President of Enterprise Infrastructure. "We appreciate AT&T's investment and Crown Castle's management in working with IU Athletics to make this a reality."

The DAS installation at Assembly Hall consists of multiple strategically-placed antennas that distribute AT&T's wireless network coverage throughout the arena, providing for more efficient management of wireless capacity in heavily-trafficked areas. The DAS has the ability to provide enhanced, consistent wireless coverage to customers inside Assembly Hall. Joining Assembly Hall's DAS system is just one part of AT&T's Project Velocity IP (VIP), a three-year investment plan announced last fall to expand and enhance its IP broadband networks.

The additional capacity also is expected to help improve call reliability, boost data traffic capacity and enable more consistent network access to help customers make the most of their AT&T devices.
