Mediasite MultiView, a new multi-format video capture feature from Sonic
Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), the trusted leader for video
content management and webcasting solutions, will allow Bloomsburg
University of Pennsylvania to uniquely capture and stream
multi-perspective videos of classroom projects and faculty research.
For the past six years, the university has used Mediasite
Enterprise Video Platform to streamline its video content
management, and pull together all user-generated content, recorded
lectures and special events into one easy to manage system.
Now, it’s going a step further by deploying Mediasite
7 campus-wide this spring, including Mediasite
MultiView, for multiple, fully synchronized high definition feeds
for critical analysis of student and faculty work. The new release also
features dual video capture in My Mediasite, the user-friendly tool used
by Bloomsburg University faculty, staff and students to easily capture,
upload and share video from any computer.
These features will add real-life dimension and deepen engagement for
any live or on-demand video the university captures with Mediasite.
“Mediasite 7’s ability to select any combination of cameras to be
captured and streamed simultaneously will be helpful for role-playing
student interviews and focus group research,” said Asa Kelley, media
technician, Bloomsburg University. “Mediasite is the most versatile,
robust system around.”
Each of the campus’ four colleges — Business, Education, Liberal Arts
and Science and Technology — currently use Mediasite to modernize the
hundreds of hours of classroom footage on VHS tapes dating back several
decades. The university is digitizing everything using Mediasite
Enterprise Video Platform so that it can be easily watched and managed
with the click of a button. With Mediasite’s powerful search
capabilities, everything is indexed, making entire video libraries
searchable and saving immeasurable time.
Currently the university has 1,350 Mediasite presentations on its
server, of which 1,000 were created in the last 12 months due to its
recent deployment of My Mediasite. Kelley said My Mediasite will lead to
even more content being generated at an even faster pace.
“Bloomsburg University is a leader in combining academic video with
face-to-face instruction to enhance student performance. With its
deployment of Mediasite MultiView and the Desktop Recorder, the
university is taking knowledge sharing to a new level, giving faculty
and students in-depth looks at classroom activities and allowing video
creation to occur at a rapid pace,” said Gary Weis, chief executive
officer, Sonic Foundry.
Kelley will present a webinar,” How Bloomsburg University Achieved
Campus-Wide Video Capture” at 11 a.m. CT March 18. Register at www.sonicfoundry.com/BloomsburgWebinar.
