Pioneer Credit Recovery, a Sallie Mae company, and the New York State
Department of Labor will sponsor a tri-county career fair for veterans
in western New York on April 3.
The career fair will be held at the White Star Inn, Route 16 in Chaffee,
N.Y. from 2 to 7 p.m. It is expected about 25 employers will participate
in the event. They represent employers from Wyoming, Allegany and
Cattaraugus, as well as Genesee and Erie counties.
All potential attendees will have the opportunity to attend resume
writing workshop, hosted by Pioneer.
The company plans to hire 75 full-time positions to support its
collections and call center operations in Arcade and Perry by June 2014.
“We are serious about hiring more veterans,” said Jack Frazier, vice
president, Sallie Mae, and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. “They have the
experience and training to contribute to the future success of our
company.”
Sallie Mae’s family of collection companies, including Pioneer, is one
of the largest, responsible, compliant, and top performing collection
operations in the country, having recovered billions in receivables on
behalf of the American taxpayer.
Pioneer employees provide excellent service to state, federal and
institutional clients as they counsel clients’ customers on successful
debt repayment options. The company offers a benefits package to include
competitive wages, incentive programs, paid holidays and vacation, a
401(k) plan as well as health, dental, and life insurance.
Sallie Mae is an equal employment opportunity, affirmative action
employer. The company is part of the coalition of corporations
participating in 100,000 Jobs Mission, which recently exceeded its goal
of hiring 100,000 transitioning service members and military veterans.
No advance registration is required for job seekers interested in
participating in the career fair.
As part of the event, participating employers will make a contribution
to WNYHeroes. The nonprofit provides veterans, members of the armed
services, and the widows and children of deceased veterans with access
to essential services, financial assistance and resources that support
their lives and sustain their dignity.
WCJW (“CJ Country”) radio station is the official media sponsor for the
event.
