VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - March 25, 2014) - SG Spirit Gold Inc. (TSX VENTURE:SG) ("SG" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Jim Crawford as President and Chief Executive Officer and Mr. Mark Lotz as a director.
Mr. Crawford brings almost 20 years of international mineral exploration experience to SG, having held a number of corporate and field-based positions including Manager, Investor Relations for Peregrine Diamonds; Field Manager, Kennecott Canada Exploration's Western Canadian Coal Project; and Senior Mineralogist, Golden Star Resources in their Georgetown, Guyana office. Currently, Mr. Crawford is President & CEO of Jet Metal Corp., a uranium-focused exploration company with projects in eastern Canada and the western US. Mr. Crawford is also the Chief Operating Officer of King & Bay West Management Corp., a mineral resource focused management services company, that provides both technical and corporate services to SG Spirit Gold. Mr. Crawford holds an MBA in finance from Pepperdine University, as well as an M.Sc. in geology from Queen's University.
Mr. Lotz is a Chartered Accountant with 18 years of experience primarily in the minerals industry and related securities businesses. He has held CFO positions with several well-known mining and exploration companies including African Queen Mines, Sacre-Coeur Minerals, Ltd., and Prophecy Resources Corp. He has also served as a senior executive officer for two Vancouver based securities firms and a financial compliance officer for the Vancouver Stock Exchange. Mr. Lotz holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a joint major in Economics.
The appointments of Mr. Crawford and Mr. Lotz follow the resignation of Mr. Adrian Bray as President & Chief Executive Officer and a director of the Company. Mr. Bray has been with the Company since October 2011 and the Board thanks him for his efforts during this time.
