The 12.9-liter PACCAR MX-13 engine has earned swift adoption by fleets and truck operators in the U.S. and Canadian Class 8 truck markets. Kenworth had a record year of PACCAR MX-13 engine sales in 2013. There are more than 51,000 PACCAR MX-13 engines operating in Class 8 trucks in the United States and Canada. As a result of new engine software updates, oil viscosity changes, and a common-rail fuel-injection system that optimizes combustion, the 2014 PACCAR MX-13 offers up to 1.5 percent fuel economy improvement over its 2013 version, which will provide nearly $1,200 in annual fuel savings for the typical long-haul truck. “Kenworth had a record year of PACCAR MX-13 engine sales in 2013,” said Preston Feight, Kenworth assistant general manager for sales and marketing. “There are more than 51,000 PACCAR MX-13 engines operating in Class 8 trucks in the United States and Canada. An increasing number of customers are choosing the PACCAR MX-13 due to the fuel economy benefits provided by this engine and the excellent service support delivered by the Kenworth dealer network.”

Customers who order a new Kenworth T680 in long-haul or regional applications also may select the Eaton Fuller Advantage™ 10-speed automated transmission, which is optimized for the PACCAR MX-13 engine. That combination may contribute up to a 2 percent fuel economy gain, and is the cornerstone of the new T680 Advantage, which includes other aerodynamic features for additional fuel savings.

“In addition to these important fuel-efficiency factors, customers appreciate the PACCAR MX-13 engine’s low cost of ownership, high horsepower and torque ratings, excellent reliability and durability, lightweight design, and quiet operation,” said Feight. “Customers also benefit from the dependable PACCAR engine support provided by the Kenworth Dealer Network.”

Available in all Kenworth Class 8 models, the PACCAR MX-13 engine offers horsepower range of 380-hp to 500-hp and torque ratings up to 1,850 lb-ft to meet customer power requirements for hauling applications that range from lightweight to more than 100,000 pounds.

The PACCAR MX-13 engine is domestically produced at the state-of-the-art PACCAR Engine assembly plant in Columbus, Miss.
