Global Professionals (“RGP”) today announced a new white paper that
focuses on the recent Unique Device Identifier (UDI) regulation and its
impact on medical device operations this year. The paper was jointly
released with OHL,
a global provider of third-party logistics services for the healthcare
industry.
Entitled UDI Compliance: Impact on Medical Device Warehouse Operations,
the white paper focuses on the following areas: re-labeling, barcoding,
inventory levels, product versioning and distributor/third-party
handling. It is co-written by Susan Moretti, RGP’s managing consultant
specializing in UDI
compliance, and Steve Downey, OHL’s vice president of healthcare
vertical.
“UDI is requiring significant change for the medical device industry,”
said Moretti. “Class III products are due to be compliant in September
2014 with other products not far behind. Whether organizations have UDI
compliance programs underway or are planning them for future compliance,
the impact on their supply chain and warehouse is an important one.”
Added Downey, “Warehouse operation is a critical component of the supply
chain, requiring warehouse leadership to be ready for the changes that
UDI will bring.”
