TransAct Technologies Incorporated (Nasdaq:TACT) (“TransAct” or “the
Company”), a global leader in market-specific solutions, including
printers, terminals, software and other products for transaction-based
and other industries, announced today that it has signed a reseller
agreement with PrintekMobile to distribute worldwide the Company’s new
8-inch mobile printing solution in key vertical markets. PrintekMobile
is a provider of cost-effective mobile thermal printing solutions for a
wide range of industries including field service, medical, public safety
and transportation, among others. In addition to their family of mobile
solutions, PrintekMobile offers an extensive selection of accessories
and components for vehicles of any type which are critical in the
mounting and installation of mobile printers.
Developed for use in a wide variety of fleet vehicle installations –
including fire trucks, police cars, emergency medical vehicles,
insurance fleets and delivery vehicles, among others – TransAct’s new
8-inch product is the first mobile thermal printing solution to
integrate the printer and paper roll, resulting in a dramatically
smaller device that is ideally suited to mobile environments. It uses
thermal technology to print information from a Web-connected device –
such as a laptop or tablet – or via a direct connection. TransAct will
sell the 8-inch printer under the RESPONDER MP2™ name while the
PrintekMobile-branded version will be known as the Interceptor 800.
Bart C. Shuldman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TransAct
Technologies, commented, “Reports estimate that by 2017 the
machine-to-machine (‘M2M’) technology market will be worth $86 billion,
with over 18 billion M2M connections globally by 2022. Vehicle fleet
operators are reaping the benefits of this technology by installing a
greater number of mobile computing platforms in their vehicles, driving
up the total number of mobile printer applications. We introduced our
new mobile printing solution to take advantage of this growing market
with a unique product that addresses customer needs and improves upon
existing solutions. By integrating the printer and paper source in a
single, easy-to-use device, our new 8-inch printer addresses a key issue
in on-demand mobile printing with a flexible device that is easy to
implement in virtually any vehicle. Reflecting PrintekMobile’s
established global presence, world-class sales team and expertise in
installation accessories, this reseller agreement represents an
important endorsement of the flexibility and utility of our new mobile
printing solution for the M2M marketplace. We believe our collaboration
with PrintekMobile will drive further recognition and adoption of our
new device and further expand the opportunity for this new solution.
Julie Payovich, President of Printek, added, “The capabilities and
design of the Interceptor 800 make it an ideal printing solution for our
diverse, global customer base and we are excited to work with the team
at TransAct under our new reseller agreement to bring this new mobile
printer to market. Based on PrintekMobile’s long-term experience in the
marketing of mobile printers, we believe our customers will easily
embrace this mobile printing solution of the future.”
