SAN DIEGO, April 2, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:KTOS), a leading National Security Solutions provider, announced today that it has received a new multi-million dollar subcontract from USfalcon Inc. to upgrade CH-47F Chinook Avionics Trainers (CAT). Kratos will perform concurrency upgrade services to four of the simulators currently located at the U.S. Army's 128th Aviation Brigade in Ft. Eustis, Virginia.
Kratos is the original equipment manufacturer of the simulators, which provide high-fidelity hands-on training of the aircraft avionics system in a fully integrated configuration. The upgrade includes incorporating the Aircraft Product Improvement Program One (PIP1) to ensure concurrency of the simulators to the aircraft as well as other product life cycle and functional enhancements, such as networking the simulators together to allow students to perform more advanced maintenance scenarios.
"The CH-47 is a critical asset for transporting troops and supplies, as well as providing combat support. The maintenance of the CH-47F is critical to today's Army," said Jose Diaz, Senior Vice President of Kratos Training Solutions. "Based on our detailed knowledge of these simulators, coupled with the use of our advanced Software Integration Lab capability, device downtime will be minimized and student training will continue during the upgrade period."
The work will be performed under a subcontract to USfalcon, Inc. (Morrisville, NC) under the Aviation Applied Technology Directorate (AATD) SPOTS V contract.
