The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has named Beazer Homes as
a 2014 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year for its outstanding contribution
to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through building ENERGY STAR homes.
Beazer Homes’ accomplishments will be recognized in Washington, D.C. on
April 29, 2014.
Beazer Homes, an ENERGY STAR partner since 2011, is being honored for
its work in building new homes that meet ENERGY STAR requirements for
energy efficiency.
Every Beazer home has built-in energy efficiencies that save money in
heating and cooling costs. In fact, all Beazer homes exceed ENERGY STAR®
ratings that minimize utility bills.
“Beazer Homes takes pride in building our homes to meet or exceed ENERGY
STAR requirements,” said Allan Merrill, President and CEO, Beazer Homes.
“ENERGY STAR homes are more comfortable and ensure meaningful savings
for our customers on their energy bills, while reducing our impact on
the environment.”
“EPA recognizes Beazer Homes for their leadership in verifying new homes
that meet ENERGY STAR specifications,” said EPA Deputy Administrator Bob
Perciasepe. “Homebuyers choose ENERGY STAR certified homes for greater
energy efficiency and comfort. Home Energy Raters like Beazer Homes make
it easy for homebuyers to identify and choose these homes.”
The 2014 Partner of the Year Awards are given to a variety of
organizations to recognize their contributions to reducing greenhouse
gas emissions through superior energy efficiency. Award winners are
selected from the 16,000 organizations that participate in the ENERGY
STAR program.
ENERGY STAR certified new homes use substantially less energy for
heating, cooling, and water heating; in fact, homeowners who buy ENERGY
STAR certified homes can expect to use 15-30% less energy than a typical
new home. Currently, over 2,700 home builders across the nation are
constructing homes that meet EPA’s strict requirements for energy
efficiency. More than 1.5 million American families now live in ENERGY
STAR certified homes.
Through 2013, with help from ENERGY STAR, American families and
businesses have saved $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more
than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions.
