TORONTO, April 3, 2014 /CNW/ - TMX Group Limited today announced March 2014 trading statistics for its diversified group of marketplaces – Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, TMX Select, Alpha, Montreal Exchange (MX) and NGX.
Trading volume on Toronto Stock Exchange in March 2014 increased 6% compared to the previous month, and increased 11% compared to March 2013. Volume on TSX Venture Exchange increased 4% in March 2014 compared to February 2014, and increased 26% compared to March 2013. Trading volume on TMX Select in March 2014 increased 19% compared to the previous month, and increased 56% compared to March 2013. Alpha trading volume in March 2014 increased 5% compared to the previous month, but decreased 25% compared to the same month a year earlier.
In March 2014 volume on MX decreased 3% compared to the previous month, but increased 12% compared to the same month a year earlier. The level of open interest contracts at the end of March 2014 decreased 5% from the end of February 2014 and was essentially flat year-over-year.
Volume on NGX in March 2014 decreased 6% compared to February 2014, but increased 29% from March 2013.
