Sam's Club Hosts Free Oral Care Screening Event

WMT

Day-to-day oral health is more important than many think. Despite the approximate 500 million dentist visits Americans make each year1, millions of adults and children endure dental health complications that could be prevented through basic preventive care. To reinforce the basics of a good oral routine and general wellness, Sam’s Club is hosting free oral care and vital health screenings on Saturday, April 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The screenings are free and available to the public at all Sam’s Club locations with a pharmacy (589 locations).

The free health screening event features tests valued at up to $100, including:

  • Dental tablets to test for plaque
  • Glucose
  • Total cholesterol
  • Blood pressure
  • Body mass index (BMI)
  • Vision 2

“Oral health is extremely important and a good indicator of overall health and wellbeing,” said Jill Turner-Mitchael, senior vice president, Sam’s Club health and wellness. “Free oral health and wellness screenings at Sam’s Club provide useful reminders that oral health issues may be symptoms of more serious chronic diseases. We are committed to offering our members and communities an affordable, accessible foundation for understanding how they can take ownership of their health.”

In addition to oral health screenings, Sam’s Club pharmacies offer year-round immunizations for adults ages 18 and above. Licensed pharmacists can administer walk-in flu shots and nine important immunizations recommended to help protect against serious diseases like pneumonia, shingles and whooping cough. According to a new Sam’s Club/Gallup Microbusiness Tracker, approximately one third (34%) of microbusinesses with employees say that providing adequate employee benefits is a major issue for them; meanwhile, four in 10 microbusiness owners (41%) said they are concerned about employee healthcare costs going up significantly in the coming year. To help microbusiness owners with these health concerns, businesses near Sam’s Club locations can schedule on-site flu immunization clinics with Sam’s Club pharmacists for their employees.

Sam’s Club Pharmacy provides savings and preventive care to each community it serves. Sam’s Club offers $4/$10 generic prescription prices to the public, and Sam’s Plus and Sam’s Business members receive an additional 8 percent savings on name-brand prescriptions, 40 percent savings on generics not part of the $4/$10 generic prescription program, and access to more savings through the Extra Value Drug Program, featuring 10 to 30 percent savings on select name-brand and generic prescriptions. Restrictions may apply.

Information about all of the Sam’s Club health and wellness offerings can be found at SamsClub.com and in the Sam’s Club exclusive bi-monthly wellness magazine, Healthy Living Made Simple, which reaches approximately eight million members.
