Prudential listed as a 'Best for Vets Employer' by Military Times

PRU

Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE: PRU) announced today that it has been recognized by Military Times as a “Best for Vets Employer” for its commitment to providing job training and opportunities for veterans, and support for military personnel on reserve duty. This marks the fifth consecutive year Prudential has earned a spot on the Military Times list.

Military Times invited major companies across the country to participate in a nearly 90- question survey about their recruiting and hiring policies, social recognition for veterans and pay and benefits for reservists. “As with all of our surveys, ‘Best for Vets: Employers’ is an editorially independent news project that evaluates the many factors that make a company a good fit for military veterans and spouses,” said Amanda Miller, editor of Military Times EDGE magazine.

Prudential was ranked 24th on the list of 59 employers. “Prudential is committed to helping veterans develop meaningful careers after their military service and between deployments. Through our VETalent program, we are a lead sponsor of a work/study program that educates, trains, and provides employment opportunities to enlisted veterans transitioning from the military,” said Barbara Koster, senior vice president and chief information officer at Prudential, and head of the company’s Veterans Initiatives Program. “In addition to those hired through VETalent, many other veterans are employed across our businesses in a variety of positions.”

Toni McDaniel, relationship manager, Diversity Recruiting at Prudential, said, “Veteran recruitment is an important component of Prudential’s overall talent acquisition strategy. We focus on building strong relationships with veteran organizations, attending recruiting events that target military veterans, posting job openings and advertising on military-specific job boards, publications and websites. “McDaniel added that the Veterans Initiatives Program includes VETNET, a business resource group that provides employees who are veterans and veteran supporters with professional development opportunities, mentoring and networking programs.

Prudential’s Veterans Initiative is the recipient of several honors and recognitions. In 2013, the company was recognized as a “Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Company” for its proactive support of military service members and their families, and for five consecutive years was named to the GI Jobs Top 100 Military Friendly Employers® list.

As part of Prudential’s longstanding commitment to U.S. veterans, active service members and veterans already in our employ, Prudential’s Veterans Initiative team coordinates companywide efforts to create sustainable programs for transitioning veterans, and collaborates with corporate peers to support similar programs with an emphasis on providing veterans access to quality education, job training, and employment opportunities. These efforts include Prudential’s sponsorship of VETalent, an innovative training and hiring program run by Workforce Opportunity Services (WOS), a nonprofit 501©(3) organization with a proven track record.
