Cigna (NYSE: CI) has received a Gold Hermes Award from the Association
of Marketing and Communication Professionals for a white
paper on disparate health outcomes in the Latino community.
Bienestar: America’s Hispanic Community – Improving Health Outcomes
Through Engagement with Health Care Professionals was developed to
help raise awareness of the particular health care needs of the Latino
population among physicians, nurses, and other health care
professionals. To date, the white paper has reached more than half a
million health care professionals throughout the Cigna network.
“We appreciate this award from the Association of Marketing and
Communication Professionals, which recognizes the many dedicated Cigna
employees whose work is focused on reducing health disparities so that
all of our customers are able to improve their health and well-being,”
said Lisa Bacus, global chief marketing officer. “Understanding Hispanic
cultural characteristics and preferences is a key enabler to better
health outcomes. By identifying and addressing the specific health care
needs of the Latino community and sharing that information with health
care professionals, we are helping to ensure that our customers receive
the most effective and appropriate care.”
The Hermes
Creative Awards is an international competition for creative
professionals involved in the concept, writing, and design of
traditional materials and programs, and emerging technologies. This
year’s competition received more than 5,500 entries from around the
world.
In 2012, Cigna was recognized for its efforts to reduce health care
disparities when the company received
the Surgeon General’s Medallion, which is awarded to recognize
exceptional achievements that advance the cause of public health and
medicine.
