HOUSTON, May 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- BBVA Compass promoted Shawn J. Thompson to city president in Colorado Spring, Colo. Thompson has spent the last eight years with BBVA Compass, helping the bank deliver innovative banking solutions.

Thompson has nearly 18 years of experience, most recently served as senior vice president within the bank's Commercial line of business and replaces Steve Self, who retired. He has served as an executive for a handful of banks in Colorado focused on commercial real estate, construction, health care and other commercial business.
Thompson has a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University. He's an active member of the community and serves as the secretary and treasurer for Pikes Peak Prep, a free public charter school.
