Media Alert / Photo Opportunity - Canadian Tire stores across Quebec host celebration for Jumpstart Day and 75th anniversary of Canadian Tire stores in Quebec

T.CTC

MONTREAL, May 27, 2014 /CNW/ - On May 31, 2014, Canadian Tire 75th anniversary celebrations and the sixth annual Jumpstart Day will take place at Canadian Tire stores across Quebec.

The event marks the 75th anniversary of Canadian Tire stores in Quebec.  The 99 Canadian Tire dealers across Quebec and the Canadian Tire Crémazie extend sincere thanks to their customers. The dealers are proud of their long tradition of giving back to the community and invite customers to join them in supporting local kids and families on Jumpstart Day.

On May 31st, customers can enjoy special 75th anniversary celebrations and activities at select Canadian Tire stores, including car washes, kiosques on bicycle safety, BBQs and games for kids, while raising additional funds for Jumpstart.

On Jumpstart Day, participants are asked to tweet a photo with their #JumpstartRedBall. Jumpstart Day closes off the Jumpstart Red Ball campaign, which, through the month of May, encourages customers to donate $2 in exchange for a Red Ball – a national symbol for child's play. All funds raised throughout the campaign stay within the community in which they were raised.

One in three Canadian families cannot afford to enrol their kids in organized sports and physical activity. Over the past nine years, Jumpstart has helped more than 720,000 kids across Canada by removing financial barriers associated with organized sport, including the costs of equipment, registration and/or transportation.  In Quebec, Jumpstart also supports not-for-profit organizations dedicated to the wellbeing of children and families and offers free camp stays at the Base de plein air Bon départ . Thanks to the generosity of store dealers, employees, clients and partners, the foundation contributed $3.7 million last year across Québec to help 31 000 kids get more active, 500 kids enjoy an unforgettable stay at the summer camp and 200 community organizations put in place special projects.

Canadian Tire invites the community to celebrate at their local Canadian Tire store. A photo opp will be held at the Canadian Tire store on Crémazie Boulevard in Montreal with foundation ambassadors Sébastien Benoit and Paralympic gold medalist Benoit Huot.
