Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (NYSE: TMO), the world leader in serving
science, today launched new instruments, software and consumables
designed to enable customers in research and applied markets to achieve
higher levels of performance and productivity.
The new Thermo Scientific products make their debut during the 62nd
ASMS Conference on Mass Spectrometry and Allied Topics, being held
at the Baltimore Convention Center from June 15-19 in booth 127
and at the Holiday suite in the Hilton Baltimore Hotel, 401 West
Pratt Street, Baltimore, Maryland.
“We are committed to extending our long track record of mass
spectrometry innovation with new products that allow our customers to
achieve their goals in both research and applied markets,” said Marc N.
Casper, president and chief executive officer of Thermo Fisher
Scientific. “Our depth of capabilities encompassing instruments,
software and consumables puts Thermo Fisher in a unique position to help
our customers accelerate results while improving laboratory efficiency.”
Headlining the new Thermo Scientific launches is the Q Exactive HF
(high field) liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS)
system, which significantly increases the performance of the highly
successful Q Exactive Plus platform by combining it with an ultra-high
field Orbitrap mass analyzer. The Q Exactive HF system is engineered for
faster characterization, quantification and confirmation to help life
sciences researchers dramatically increase analytical speed and
sensitivity in applications such as protein identification.
New application-specific Thermo Scientific software helps researchers
turn mass spectral data into answers to the most challenging scientific
questions. For example, PepFinder 1.0 peptide mapping software increases
the quality and accuracy of biotherapeutic protein characterization,
critical in drug development and production quality control. As mass
spectrometry becomes the primary method of identifying proteins in
complex biological samples, Proteome Discoverer 2.0 software provides
outstanding sensitivity and a wide array of bioinformatics tools and
customizable workflows.
Recognizing the importance of sample preparation in ensuring accurate
results, the company also introduced new Thermo Scientific consumables
designed to enrich target proteins, peptides and antibodies for
analysis. Mass Spectrometric Immunoassay pipette tips feature
proprietary microcolumn technology to provide enhanced, reproducible
target purification in biological samples prior to LC-MS analyses. In
addition, the Tandem Mass Tag Reagent family is specially
designed to enable a rapid transition from method development to
high-throughput protein quantitation.
For customers working in applied markets, the Thermo Scientific TSQ
8000 Evo triple quadrupole gas chromatography-mass
spectrometry system incorporates new EvoCell technology to
deliver a threefold increase in productivity compared to its
predecessor, allowing users to screen and quantitate more than 1,000
compounds in a single run. The TSQ 8000 Evo system is ideal for
laboratories analyzing food, environmental, pharmaceutical and forensic
samples for complex compounds such as dioxins and pesticides.
