Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC), a United Technologies Corporation company (NYSE:UTX), today announced that its PW150C turboprop engine will power the new MA700 regional turboprop aircraft being launched by AVIC Xi'an Aircraft Company of China. This selection reinforces P&WC's global leadership in the regional turboprop segment and further extends P&WC's presence in China's rapidly growing aviation industry.

"We are honoured to support our long-time customer AVIC Xi'an Aircraft Company in the launch of the state-of-the-art MA700 aircraft with the latest member of our PW100/PW150 engine family," said John Saabas, President, P&WC. "This engine selection comes as the PW100/PW150 is celebrating its 30 years of leadership in the regional turboprop segment this year and further underscores its reputation as the engine of choice of aircraft manufacturers. This has been made possible by the engine family's unmatched reliability and proven performance, as well as by our best-in-class customer service network, including a rapid-response Customer First Centre in Singapore for the Asia-Pacific region."

Mr. Pang Zhen, Vice President, Commercial Aircraft Programs, AVIC, noted that P&WC has a strong track record in the regional turboprop segment and that the company's PW127J powers AVIC Xi'an's growing fleet of MA60/600 regional aircraft. "We are very pleased to be building on our decades-long relationship with Pratt & Whitney Canada by selecting the PW150C engine for our newest regional turboprop," he said. "By supporting the development and launch of this new aircraft, P&WC is playing an important role in helping us better serve our valued customers in China and internationally who are looking for maximum comfort, efficiency and dependability."

P&WC's PW150C turboprop engine leverages the success of its PW150A engine by providing increased performance. The enhancements in the engine are customized to meet the specific needs of the MA700 and will provide exceptional fuel burn economics for the new aircraft.
