Pratt & Whitney Implements New FMP for PW4000 Engine Customers

EAST HARTFORD, Conn., July 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- FARNBOROUGH AIRSHOW -- Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies Corp. company (NYSE: UTX), is implementing a new fleet management program (FMP) for the PW4000 94-inch engine that will improve engine reliability and time on-wing for operators.

The exclusive FMP will provide predictable maintenance cost and spare engine support for operators of PW4000 94-inch engines powering mid-life aircraft that are owned or leased by airlines with smaller fleets.  To provide customers further flexibility, strategically located pools of PW4000 94-inch spare engines will be available to ensure these operators have engine thrust when they need it.

"Our PW4000 engine customers tell us they want to keep their engines on-wing for as long as possible – in fact one of our customer's PW4000 94-inch engine has reached the outstanding operational milestone of over 40,000 hours on-wing since its last engine overhaul," said Matthew Bromberg, president, Pratt & Whitney Aftermarket.  "With more than 40 percent of the PW4000 engine fleet under FMPs, it is clear that there is significant customer demand for such service options.  This new FMP will enable operators with smaller fleets to benefit from the improved engine reliability an FMP provides and keep their engines on-wing longer."

Pratt & Whitney records have shown that engines maintained under Pratt & Whitney FMPs have fewer unscheduled engine removals and continue to demonstrate longer time on-wing between shop visits. This results in greater value to the customer.
