Vanouver, British Columbia (FSCwire) - Orca Touchscreen Technologies Ltd. (the “Company” or “Orca Touchcreen”) has entered into discussions with Solucel, a leading Central American high-technology communications company, to supply a variety of electronic devices for sale by Solucel throughout Central America. Eduardo Jop, CEO of Solucel, says “This project will have a significant impact on the IT and security industry in the Guatemala and Central American market. We expect rapid growth of our sales in the market with this project.” A letter of intent is expected to be reached later this month, with a formal written agreement to be entered into after August 2014.
Solucel has approached Orca Touchscreen to provide various electronic devices, beginning with video security and surveillance solutions that can be monitored by smartphone and other touchscreen-equipped devices. A high demand is expected for ‘smart’ security systems, as the touch interface is easier and more convenient to use. Demand is expected from a wide variety of customers including residences, offices, factories and warehouses. To meet Solucel’s needs, Orca Touchscreen plans to ship components from Asia for assembly in Guatemala, thus taking advantage of tax and import duty savings offered there. Orca Touchscreen plans to establish a Guatemalan assembly factory by the fourth quarter of 2014.
