Community and Responsible Sourcing.
“Molson Coors’ Our Beer Print performance has been recognized as the
Beverage Sector Industry Leader on the 2013/14 Dow Jones Sustainability
World Index for the second year running,” said Peter Swinburn, president
and CEO of Molson Coors. “This recognition continues to reinforce the
value and impact of corporate responsibility programming that is
embedded in the business. To that end, in 2013, we launched our 2020
Sustainability Strategy which moves us forward in balancing supply
chain risk and efficiency while delivering savings of $16 million per
year.”

(GHG) emissions and water and solid waste to achieve its 2020
targets of zero waste to landfill, 25 percent energy reduction and 15
percent reduction in both carbon and water intensity.

2014 Corporate Responsibility Performance Highlights
The scope of this year’s report is global and covers Molson Coors
Brewing Company’s business units: Molson Coors Canada, Molson Coors
Europe, and Molson Coors International. Molson Coors International has a
presence in Asia, continental Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean,
excluding Puerto Rico.
Environmental Stewardship
Investing in Wastewater Treatment
A core component of Molson Coors’ sustainability strategy is an
investment in wastewater treatment, and a commitment to generating clean
energy from this waste stream. Through anaerobic digestion, Molson Coors
is able to treat its wastewater and generate a high-quality biogas that
can be used to produce heat or electricity. This process reduces the
company’s reliance on fossil fuels and lowers its GHG emissions.
The company currently uses anaerobic digestion technology in five
breweries in the U.K., Central Europe and India. In 2014, $11.8 million
of capital investment has been allocated to two other projects to be
completed this year. Further anaerobic digestion and biogas recovery
projects are planned for 2015 and beyond.
Responsible Sourcing
Procurement is an essential and deeply intertwined part of business – in
fact, a footprint analysis indicated that 98 percent of Molson Coors’
water footprint could be attributed to suppliers. For this reason, the
company established Supplier Standards to set out minimum expectations
for environmental, social and economic sustainability.
In 2013, Molson Coors received 100 percent acknowledgement of its
Supplier Standards from high-risk Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers. The
company partnered with the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange (Sedex) to
introduce a standardized and public format for reporting.
Alcohol Responsibility
In 2014, Molson Coors continued to emphasize alcohol responsibility by
backing the Beer,
Wine and Spirit Producers’ Commitments to Reduce Harmful Drinking.
The program includes 13 CEO signatories, representing the leading global
alcohol producers. In each major market, Molson Coors has active alcohol
responsibility programs that address issues such as drunk driving and
underage drinking.
