Episode 7 Recap
From the Pit Start in Winnipeg, The Race exited Canada again as six teams crossed the Atlantic to Normandy, France. At the Roadblock, teams had to barrel through a complicated formula at Calvados Boulard distillery, then made their way to the Detour and chose either braiding the mane of a Percheron horse or assembling the timeline of the famous Bayeux Tapestry. From there teams raced to Asnelles, and piloted a sailboat on wheels through a short beach course, before making their way to Bèny-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery. Here, Racers paused to remember their fallen countrymen. From there, it was a reflective drive to the Pit Stop at Juno Beach Centre, where they were greeted by host Jon Montgomery. Montgomery was joined by Jim Parks, a veteran of the Second World War who landed on Juno Beach 70 years ago as a 19-year-old man.
On Juno Beach, Natalie and Meaghan reclaimed their spot atop the podium, winning their fifth leg after starting in fifth place at the Pit Start in Winnipeg. Their win earned them two round trip tickets on Air Canada to any of their European destinations, plus another $3,000 on their Scotiabank Gold American Express Card.
