LONDON, Aug. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN), the global business advisory firm dedicated to helping organisations protect and enhance their enterprise value, today announced the appointment of Alex Deane as a Managing Director in the firm's Strategic Communications segment. Mr. Deane joins the segment's Public Affairs practice. He will be based in London.
Mr. Deane brings more than 10 years of experience in public affairs to FTI Consulting, and joins from the global public relations firm Weber Shandwick, where he served as Head of Public Affairs. Mr. Deane has worked with numerous high profile individuals and companies in a senior advisory capacity. In his new role, Mr. Deane will collaborate with the firm's strong government relations and regulatory communications professionals throughout the global network to grow the firm's Public Affairs offering in London.

Prior to joining Weber Shandwick in 2011, Mr. Deane was David Cameron's first chief of staff and served as an adviser for the Australian Liberal Party's re-election campaign under John Howard. Mr. Deane has also practised as a barrister and served as the founding Director of Big Brother Watch, a prominent civil liberties campaigning organisation.
