Gas and Electric Company (BGE) encourages residential customers who
are in the market for new appliances to take advantage of the rebates
available from BGE’s
Smart Energy Savers Program to maximize their savings by making
their purchases during Labor Day sales this weekend, Aug. 29 through
Sept. 1, 2014. During the last big weekend of the summer, retailers
often hold some of their best sales of the year over Labor Day,
particularly for appliances. New model appliances tend to hit the sales
floor during the fall, and retailers typically will discount existing
models to make room for the new ones.
“This is an excellent time for BGE customers to take advantage of the
great savings and efficiencies offered by ENERGY STAR certified
appliances,” says Ruth C. Kiselewich, director of demand side management
programs for BGE. “By combining rebates from the BGE’s
Smart Energy Savers Program with savings from various
retailers’ Labor Day sales, customers can get a great deal this time of
the year.”
BGE’s
Smart Energy Savers Program offers rebates from $25 to
$500 year-round to help customers afford to make smart choices by
purchasing energy-efficient appliances that save energy and save money
on operating costs. Customers can receive the following rebates through
the BGE’s
Smart Energy Savers Program:
-
$500 rebates on ENERGY STAR certified hybrid water heaters.
-
$100–$150 rebates on select ENERGY STAR certified refrigerators.
-
$50–$100 rebates on select ENERGY STAR certified clothes washers.
-
$75 rebates on select ENERGY STAR certified freezers.
-
$25 rebates on select ENERGY STAR certified room air conditioning
units.
-
$25 rebates on select ENERGY STAR certified dehumidifiers.
The BGE’s
Smart Energy Savers Program is a suite of programs that
enable customers to control energy use, leading to more efficient use of
electricity and lowering energy bills from where they otherwise would
be. Collectively, the programs help contain the cost of energy and
improve reliability. The programs also help to reduce peak demand and
slow the growth in energy consumption to lessen the need for more power
plants. BGE offers energy-saving solutions for renters, homeowners,
large and small business customers, nonprofits and institutional
customers. More information is available at BGESmartEnergy.com.
These programs support the EmPOWER Maryland Energy Efficiency Act.
