NCR
Corporation (NYSE: NCR), the global leader in consumer transaction
technologies, announced today that Foster’s
Food Fair - IGA has selected a suite of NCR’s supply chain and
merchandising software solutions to assist in driving costs out of
providing fresh food and goods in a complex island import and tariff
environment.
Included in the comprehensive solution offering, Foster’s invested in
the NCR Power Enterprise suite, including:
-
NCR Power Warehouse with voice-directed automation technology
-
NCR Dock Scheduling to optimize dock efficiencies
-
NCR HQ with Webstore for item assortment and store operation
planning
-
NCR Demand-Driven Replenishment for optimized inventory delivery
This platform provides a holistic approach, helping Foster’s to properly
price items on store shelves based on their landed costs – no small task
when nearly everything is shipped to their island distribution center
from around the world. Demand-driven replenishment technology, included
in the solution, keeps optimized inventory levels on the store shelves
by synchronizing sales and demand data back through the supply chain.
“We needed an end-to-end warehouse-to-shelf management solution that was
efficient, logical and flexible,” says Woody Foster, managing director,
Foster’s Food Fair - IGA. “Operating solely on an island with huge
swings in tourist populations and extreme weather events throughout the
year creates wild fluctuations in demand. NCR has created a solution
that not only addresses our unique needs today, but positions us for
continued growth and higher revenues going forward.”
Foster’s Food Fair - IGA operates a variety of retail formats within the
Cayman Islands including traditional Supermarkets, Warehouse Club Style,
Convenience / Express and Urban Market stores. They also opened their
new distribution center and corporate offices two years ago to improve
operations and customer service by centralizing distribution and
administrative resources. The Power Enterprise solution suite replaces
older technology that was very labor intensive, not well integrated, and
offered only manual order processing and vendor funds tracking.
“Our relationship with Foster’s is a perfect example of the breadth and
depth of our portfolio for a complex supermarket supply chain,” says
Todd Michaud, global vice president and general manager, Global
Enterprise, Merchandising and Supply Chain Solutions at NCR. ”Our HQ
software has deep functionality to support the greatly varied delivered
costs of goods within an island environment. The solution helps Foster’s
to strategically price their inventory and manage appropriate stock
levels, two of the hallmarks of a well run supermarket.”
NCR’s Global Enterprise, Merchandising and Supply Chain group, focuses
on creating a single, centralized data integration and operational
platform that helps both retailers and distributors of fast moving goods
to lower costs and increase revenues.
