Toyota Automobile Museum to Hold 25th Anniversary Exhibition

TM, TOYOF

Tokyo, Oct 9, 2014 - (JCN Newswire) - Toyota Motor Corporation's Toyota Automobile Museum in Nagakute City, Aichi Prefecture will commemorate its 25th anniversary by holding a special exhibition entitled "Let Us Tell You a Story - A Chain Reaction That Inspired Generations", from November 1 to April 12, 2015.

The Museum, which turned 25 in April, not only exhibits cars but also showcases their historical significance, the passion that went into their creation, and society at the time each car was launched. The 25th anniversary slogan is "a museum that tells stories".

The special exhibition is part of a new venture to promote automotive culture through vehicle exhibits and a series of talks by experts. The first "Let Us Tell You a Story" talk is planned for January 2015. (Details are to be announced the month before.).

"A Chain Reaction That Inspired Generations" refers to the power of cars to excite and inspire the creation of new cars across generations of car enthusiasts.

This exhibition will focus on sports cars that excite. After World War II, the MG "Midget" Type TC (1947, U.K.) and other U.K. models spearheaded the sports car market in the United States. These vehicles strongly influenced the Chevrolet "Corvette" (1953, U.S.A.) and the Toyota "2000 GT" Speed Trial version (1966, Japan) that went on to break several high-speed endurance records. The special exhibition and the museum's permanent exhibits tell the story of how the competition between Japanese, American and European manufacturers spurred creativity.

In addition, from November 1 to 16, visitors will be presented on a first-come-first-served basis with postcards depicting themes from the special exhibition and a 25th anniversary pin badge as a token of gratitude and a souvenir.

Furthermore, between October 7 and February 1, an exhibition entitled "Happy Drive!" will be held in the museum gallery featuring paintings of vehicles by painter Tomohiro Todoroki, who uses a unique acrylic gouache technique.

On October 25 and November 1 and 9, we will hold a driving demonstration featuring a Cord "810" (1936, U.S.A), which was used in pre-war Japan, and two other vintage cars.
