SCHITT'S CREEK on POP will debut with 13 half-hour episodes and
will star Emmy winners® Eugene Levy (“American Pie,” “Best In
Show,” “SCTV”) and Catherine O’Hara (“Home Alone,” “Best In
Show,” “SCTV”) and Chris Elliott (“How I Met Your Mother,” “Late Night
With David Letterman,” “There’s Something About Mary”) alongside Daniel
Levy (“Admission,” MTV’s “The Hills After Show”) and Annie Murphy (“Blue
Mountain State”). A trailer and Facebook page for SCHITT’S CREEK
launches today: http://poptv.com/preview/schittscreek
and http://www.Facebook.com/SchittsCreekPOP.
The series centers on a formerly filthy rich video store magnate Johnny
Rose (Eugene Levy), his soap star wife Moira (Catherine O'Hara), and
their two kids, über-hipster son David (Daniel Levy) and socialite
daughter Alexis (Annie Murphy), who suddenly find themselves broke. They
are forced to live in Schitt’s Creek, a small depressing town they once
bought as a joke.
“It took a very special project like ‘Schitt’s Creek’ to bring me back
to television,” said Levy. “I’m thrilled to be reunited on-screen with
my dear friend Catherine O’Hara and to have the opportunity to work with
the wonderfully hilarious Chris Elliot, the up-and-coming Annie Murphy,
and my son Dan, who is amazingly talented and a great partner—working
together has only made ME look better.”
With an unmistakable humor, Eugene and Daniel bring to life a familiar
tale but with fresh characters and a quirky spin—rags to riches in
reverse. The Rose family loses their entire fortune when they are
informed they have been the victim of a Bernie Madoff style Ponzi
scheme. They are left with just one asset—Schitt’s Creek—a town that was
purchased, in jest, by Johnny as a gift for his son. The Roses have no
choice but to live there in a motel and start again. As extreme fish out
of water, they are forced to confront life without the luxurious
amenities they once knew.
“This show answers the question—what would the Kardashians do if they
woke up one day, completely broke?” said Brad Schwartz, President of
Entertainment and Media, POP. “Not only is this project a clever
cultural commentary where the 1 percent is suddenly the 99, but it fits
right in the heart of everything we’re building at our new network. It’s
a dream cast, it’s hysterically funny, and it’s sure to pop.”
SCHITT’S CREEK is commissioned by CBC, produced by Not A Real Company
Productions Inc., and created by Eugene and Daniel Levy. The Executive
Producers are Eugene and Daniel Levy, Andrew Barnsley, Fred Levy and Ben
Feigin. SCHITT’S CREEK is distributed by ITV Studios Global
Entertainment.
POP and CBC will premiere SCHITT’S CREEK in the U.S. and Canada,
respectively, in early 2015.
ABOUT POP
Fans don’t sit at the outskirts of pop culture making snarky comments,
they live right smack in the middle of it, sharing, creating, and
connecting their passions with others. At POP, fans finally have a
destination that celebrates the fun of being a fan. Fans aren’t even
fans anymore—they’re Gladiators, Tributes, Human Beings and Blockheads.
Launching in 2015, POP will give fans a dedicated network that loves
being a fan as much as they do. A network that respects talent over
celebrity. A channel filled with optimism, passion, fun and excitement.
A network that understands the fun doesn’t stop when the credits
roll…it’s really just the beginning.
POP is a joint venture of CBS Corporation (NYSE: CBS.A and CBS) and
Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF). The partnership combines CBS’s programming,
production and marketing assets with Lionsgate’s resources in motion

structure is comprised of the company with the #1 broadcast network and
many of the top first-run syndication series (“Entertainment Tonight,”
“The Insider”) and the studio that produces and distributes the
blockbuster “Hunger Games,” “Twilight” and “Divergent” franchises and
produces such award-winning TV series as “Mad Men” and “Orange is the
New Black.”
