V.BLM

OTTAWA, Oct. 22, 2014 /CNW/ - BluMetric Environmental Inc. (TSX-V: BLM), a leading Canadian cleantech company, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a C$1.6 million contract for a prefeasibility hydrogeological study and geotechnical study for Labec Century Iron Ore Inc.'s Joyce Lake and Area Direct Shipping Ore (DSO) Project in Labrador.  On this project, BluMetric's Professional Services Division is partnering with LVM Inc., which is undertaking the geotechnical portion of the work.  The project was begun on signing and completion is scheduled for December, 2014.

BluMetric Professional Services Division will be completing a hydrogeological study to support Environmental Impact Statement preparation for the environmental permitting and will also be conducting groundwater modeling to evaluate dewatering requirements to support the Bankable Feasibility Study project.  The work will consist of drilling, packer testing, well installation, and well testing.

"This contract is a result of our hydrogeological expertise, and emphasizes the reach BluMetric has in this discipline," said Nell van Walsum, President of BluMetric's Professional Services Division.  "BluMetric's experience with both remote situations and environmentally sensitive development mean that we can provide our partners with a reliable analysis of local hydrogeological challenges and responses for this prefeasibility study."

Labec Century Iron Ore Inc. is a joint venture between WISCO Canada Company Limited and  Century Iron Mines Corporation (TSX: FER).  The Joyce Lake Project is an open-pit DSO project located in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador close to Schefferville, Quebec.  It is expected to produce approximately two million tonnes of DSO per annum once in operation.
