Alpha Pro Tech, Ltd. Announces Substantial Increase in October Orders

APT

Increase Driven Predominantly by our Infection Control Products relating to the Ebola Crisis

Alpha Pro Tech, Ltd. (NYSE MKT: APT), a leading manufacturer of products designed to protect people, products and environments, including disposable protective apparel and building products, today announced a significant increase in orders of the company’s infection control and disposable protective apparel products during the month of October.

Al Millar, President of Alpha Pro Tech, commented, “New orders for the month of October were higher by $1 million compared to historical levels. The increased interest in our N-95 respirator mask, shields and coverall suits was converted to purchase orders in hand during the month of October, with the trend continuing through early November. We believe that we are seeing a real and tangible impact to our business from the aggressive efforts being undertaken to mitigate the transmission of the deadly Ebola virus. Now that the threat of the virus has crossed our domestic borders, widespread precautions are being taken to contain its spread.”

“With significant excess production capacity in our infection control products, our team is stepping up our manufacturing operations to increase output and fulfill the increase in customer orders,” continued Mr. Millar. “As we accelerate production levels to meet our delivery commitments, we are able to take advantage of our strong operating leverage within our infrastructure, increasing the contribution margin from this incremental revenue. We have quoted additional business opportunities, which could lead to a substantial increase in our infection control product orders, although we make no assurances that elevated orders will continue, as it is challenging to forecast the future needs and demands of personal protective equipment for the preparedness of the Ebola or any other infectious disease epidemic.”

With its strong balance sheet and working capital position, the Company believes that it is in a position to self-finance any additional business or manufacturing expansion needs that could arise in connection with further increased demand due to Ebola concerns or due to the flu season, during which time individuals can have similar symptoms to those associated with the Ebola virus.
