Cisco and Box Team Up to Advance Enterprise Collaboration

CSCO

Cisco and Box today announced an alliance that includes product integrations to enhance content collaboration for Project Squared, Cisco’s new business collaboration app that redefines how teams get work done. Together, Cisco and Box are making it easier and faster for teams to communicate and collaborate, accelerating productivity for global businesses. This integration also benefits security-conscious IT organizations that have standardized on Box as their secure enterprise content collaboration solution. Project Squared is built upon the Cisco Collaboration Cloud, a new, next-generation platform providing support for end-to-end content encryption.

Project Squared makes it easy for workers to stay constantly connected to the people, projects and ideas that matter most. Within Project Squared team rooms, people can post messages, share content, and meet face to face in a virtual, open space, accessible from nearly any device, anywhere in the world. Project Squared gives today’s agile workers all the tools they need to do their best work, together.

Leveraging Box View and Box Content APIs, Cisco is able to offer seamless integration with users’ most important information. Content from your Box folder is available from virtually any device and can be viewed in a Project Squared room immediately alongside messages without downloading. Users on an iPhone, iPad or Android device can also easily share content from their Box accounts directly into a Project Squared room. Project Squared is ideal for both mobile workers on the go or for those whose who prefer a desktop environment.

“We’re focused on transforming the collaboration experience and that’s the basis for Project Squared,” said Rowan Trollope, senior vice president and general manager, Collaboration Technology Group, Cisco. “Giving workers, in one place, a way to access content with just one click, and, collaborate easily with the people that matter most is our mission and we’re excited to work with Box’s leading content management technology to bring that experience to life for our customers.”

“Enterprises are adopting best-of-breed solutions to change the way their employees work, which means that vendors need to work together to offer unprecedented continuity between their services,” said Aaron Levie, co-founder and CEO of Box. “This alliance with Cisco is an exciting example of what that can look like, and we’re thrilled to be pairing Cisco’s leading collaboration portfolio with Box’s content collaboration to power better experiences for our joint customers.”

Over time the two companies intend to bring even more innovative collaboration and content sharing capabilities to workers globally. This alliance will help generate additional opportunities to reach organizations looking for best-of-breed collaboration solutions in the cloud.

Project Squared is a free download available now at http://projectsquared.com. Project Squared is currently available for Apple iPhone and iPad devices and Android devices. Project Squared is also available for Mac desktops. The browser version works on Chrome and Firefox; plugin-less voice and video exclusively in Firefox. Cisco intends to continually add new features and is seeking user feedback for optimal user satisfaction and feature set. Cisco recommends Project Squared early adopters provide feedback often through the Project Squared client interface.
