New Line Workers Join PECO's Field Force

EXC

PECO welcomed 24 new aerial line mechanics to the company’s field force today as they celebrated the completion of a 12-week training program. Line school instructors and members of PECO leadership joined the candidates and their families to congratulate the company’s newest field employees on this significant professional accomplishment. The new line workers will join the utility’s front lines – ensuring safe and reliable electric service for area customers.

PECO’s comprehensive aerial line school training program develops the fundamental skills new aerial line mechanics need to work safely on the company’s electric distribution system. More than 1,500 people applied for this year’s program. The current 24 candidates were selected after a series of interviews and physical assessments.

This year’s program was the first line school to be conducted at the company’s new training building at the Plymouth Training Complex located in Plymouth Meeting, PA. The new building includes offices, classrooms and an indoor training facility.

PECO’s Methods and Training department develops the curriculum for the line school program and seasoned aerial line mechanics instruct and oversee the field work of the candidates. In addition to field maintenance and repair skills, the program focuses on electric distribution fundamentals, including electric theory, circuit design, emergency response, safety and first-aid.
