FTI Consulting Strengthens UK Public Affairs Practice with New Appointments

LONDON, Dec. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN), the global business advisory firm dedicated to helping organisations protect and enhance their enterprise value, today announced the expansion of its Public Affairs practice within the firm's Strategic Communications segment in the UK with six new appointments, including Patricia Hewitt and Philippa Roe as Senior Advisers, Liam O'Keefe as a Senior Director and Alex Holroyd as a Director. The entire team will be based in London working alongside newly appointed UK Head of Public Affairs, Alex Deane

The Right Honourable Ms. Hewitt has had a long and distinguished career in politics, government and business. She served in Tony Blair's Cabinet as Secretary of State for Trade and Industry and Cabinet Minister for Women and Health Secretary, having previously held posts as Economic Secretary to the Treasury and e-Commerce Minister. Before entering Parliament in 1997, Ms. Hewitt served as Head of Research in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for Accenture, Deputy Director of the Institute for Public Policy Research, the centre-left think-tank that she helped to found and Policy Coordinator and Press Secretary to the Leader of the Opposition. After leaving government, Ms. Hewitt joined the Board of BT plc, where she served as a Senior Independent Director and Chair of the remuneration and pension committees until March 2014. Ms. Hewitt is currently a Director of EuroTunnel Group, a member of the global advisory board for technology firm, Sutherland Global Services and Chair of the UK India Business Council. With her extensive experience as a Minister, Policy Adviser and company Director in regulated sectors, in her new role Ms. Hewitt will be an important adviser as FTI Consulting expands its Public Affairs offering in the UK.

Ms. Roe is the current leader of Westminster City Council and has a breadth of experience behind her career, which has spanned communications, the City and politics at the most senior levels. Prior to entering politics, Ms. Roe sat as a Director in Citigroup, where she was responsible for large whole business securitisations. This followed an accomplished business career during which Ms. Roe founded, built up and sold two businesses, and sat as the Chief Executive of two companies. She is the current Chair of the West End Partnership, as well as a Board Member of London Local Enterprise Partnership, and will maintain these roles along with her position at Westminster City Council. Well known for her ability to successfully combine a commercial approach with government policies, in her new role Ms. Roe will provide invaluable advice to the firm's clients in the UK and abroad.

Mr. O'Keefe joins FTI Consulting from Accounting for International Development, and before that Weber Shandwick where for six years he advised multinational corporations on high level decisions in the face of regulatory pressure. He also helped clients plan for and respond to political and media crises. At FTI Consulting, Mr. O'Keefe will devise and implement integrated public affairs and corporate campaigns for the practice's growing client base. 

Mr. Holroyd joins the UK Public Affairs practice from FTI Consulting's Brussels office, where for three years he worked internationally with some of the firm's key clients. Mr. Holroyd specialises in projects involving multi-market advocacy in the EU, Africa and Asia. In London, he will act as a contact point for FTI Consulting's international Public Affairs offering, connecting the UK with teams operating in key legislative and regulatory hubs in Brussels and Washington, D.C.
