Paris, France will Host BIO-Europe Spring® 2015 International Life Science Partnering Conference

RM, BIOGY

The ninth annual BIO-Europe Spring® conference will be held March 9–11, 2015 in Paris, France at the Paris expo Porte de Versailles conference center. This is the first time Paris will host a life science industry event of this scale, and it is expected to draw a large number of established biotech and early stage companies desiring to form business partnerships with investors and big pharma companies.

Pharmaceutical giant Sanofi is a major sponsor of the event, as well as Laboratoires Servier and Sofinnova Ventures. The event is the largest springtime life science partnering conference. The event brings investor and pharma partners together with life science companies to forge deals that ultimately transform the healthcare market.

The one-to-one meetings that take place at BIO-Europe Spring between potential partners have broad ranging benefits for the drug development pipeline. These meetings are an effective business strategy enabling life science companies to meet and present to numerous potential partners. The program is also geared toward partnerships, where industry thought leaders speak on topics ranging from tough issues faced by drug developers, to regulatory hurdles to funding and commercialization strategies.

“Paris is an ideal location for BIO-Europe Spring,” said Anna Chrisman, Group Managing Director, EBD Group. “Paris is one of the largest life science clusters in Europe, well-known for its culture of excellence, from basic research and discovery at the universities all the way to drug development for major diseases.”

The Paris region brings together seven innovation clusters enhancing life science innovation. The number one region for developing startups in Western Europe, Paris is also a leader in oncology, neurosciences, infectious diseases and cardiology research and therapy with prestigious institutions such as the Curie Institute, the Gustave Roussy (the number one center in Europe for early stage cancer therapies), the Brain and Spine Institute, and the Pasteur Institute (the leading microbiology research center in Europe) to name just a few. Over 1,000 life science companies are located in the Paris Region, and over 500 international companies have a base in Paris.

“It speaks to the growth of the Paris region as a bio innovation hub that BIO-Europe Spring, a world-class industry event, is coming to Paris in March,” said Jean-Roch Meunier, CEO of Medicen Paris Region. “Paris is a leading center for disease research and health technologies, with an environment ripe with partnering opportunities.”

“We are very excited to host BIO-Europe Spring 2015 in Paris, as we are an extremely active cluster and have many partnerships with companies in Europe, America and Asia,” said Nathalie Desnoyer, International Life Sciences Director from the Paris Region Economic Development Agency. “It makes sense to bring them all together in March to discover what’s new in Paris and the many international business opportunities for collaboration.”

In 2014, BIO-Europe Spring was held in Turin, Italy, where over 2,000 attendees from 1,209 companies participated in 10,780 one-to-one meetings involving 2,115 licensing opportunities. BIO-Europe Spring will continue to provide life science companies with high caliber partnering opportunities in Paris, France.
