Intelsat’s recently released Global
Survey of Media Executives, which captured the thoughts of the
industry’s leading media executives on the state of 4K Ultra HDTV
adoption, revealed that over 80% expected 4K UHDTV to become part of
mainstream within the next 10 years. SCSA seeks to be at the forefront
of 4K Ultra HD entertainment by providing consumers with playback of the
highest quality downloadable content.
“Downloadable 4K Ultra HD content provides consumers with the
highest-quality viewing experience and the freedom of portability across
multiple devices,” said Bob O’Donnell, founder and chief analyst of
TECHnalysis Research. “Additionally, consumers will avoid buffering and
lower image quality otherwise found when streaming high resolution
content.”
“SCSA is comprised of some of the largest consumer electronics,
entertainment, semiconductor, storage, and telecommunications brands and
companies in the world,” said David Huerta, General Manager of SCSA. “We
are thrilled to be working with such leading and innovative contributors
who are committed to bringing consumers the highest quality premium,
portable, and personal home entertainment experience.”
"Qualcomm Technologies, a member for more than a year now, is committed
to collaborating with the mobile security and media industries in
enabling the secure distribution of rich HD and 4K visual experiences
across mobile devices," said Raj Talluri, senior vice president of
product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. "With mobile devices
playing a substantial role in the adoption of 4K, our collaboration with
SCSA will play an important role in ensuring full and secure access to
rich media that maximizes the visual experiences of our Qualcomm®
Snapdragon™ processors for content creators, our OEM customers and for
consumers."
“While more intelligent and seamless networks are essential to support
the growth of 4K/Ultra HD video and applications, they are not the only
critical elements,” said Ron Marquardt, vice president of Technology
Innovation and Architecture at Sprint. “The SCSA is crucial to address
consumers’ demands to access their content anytime, anywhere, and in the
highest quality on all of their mobile devices.”
"This technology will liberate the highest quality HD and Ultra HD
content for the consumer, with the best playback experience on any
screen and the ability to move content from device to device," said
Danny Kaye, EVP, Global Research and Technology Strategy, Twentieth
Century Fox Home Entertainment. "Having these industry leading companies
join the initiative is a testament to the value and benefit that this
offers our consumers today and into the future.”
