Community Health Systems, Inc. (NYSE: CYH) announced today that
subsidiaries of the Company have completed the sale of their ownership
interest in Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center and related
outpatient services to Capella Healthcare. The effective date of the
transaction is January 1, 2015. Local physicians continue to own an
interest in the hospital.
Divestiture of the Hartsville, South Carolina, hospital was required
under an agreement with the Federal Trade Commission following the
Company’s January 2014 acquisition of Health Management Associates, Inc.
The Company does not expect the transaction to have a meaningful impact
on financial operations.
