A year ago, Turkcell (NYSE:TKC) (BIST:TCELL) had relaunched its Academy
as a digital, public learning platform. On its first-year anniversary,
Turkcell Academy cooperates with the prestigious Massachusetts Institute
of Technology’s Office of Digital Learning to launch a multi-modular
MOOC that focuses on entrepreneurship and that is designed specifically
for an online audience. “Innovators MBA” – as the program is officially
called – will be available on edX in English and in Turkish.
“Innovators’ MBA” consists of 4 modules. The first courses under the
first two modules – Entrepreneurship 101 and Entrepreneurship
102 – are already shared on the edX website. The final two modules – User
Entrepreneurship and Big Data for Entrepreneurs – will be
available in the coming months.
The videos are free for everyone who wishes to follow the program. The
participants will receive MITx certificates upon successful completion
of each module.
This is the first corporate collaboration for MITx, the MOOC program
under MIT’s Office of Digital Learning, and the first time that a MOOC
in Turkish language appears on the edX platform.
Cutting-edge knowledge at the service of thousands with online
education
Speaking to a group of journalists at the launching press conference
held at the MIT, Turkcell CEO Sureyya Ciliv underlined the
transformative power of technology. “For millions of people, mobile and
online education opens up new lanes of accessing global knowledge. With
this program, cutting-edge thinking on innovation and entrepreneurship
will reach thousands of people all around the world, including in our
home country, Turkey” said Ciliv. “We are proud to carry our strategic
collaboration with MIT to a new level with this program which focuses on
two issues that are so central to Turkcell’s identity – innovation and
entrepreneurship.”
“One of the biggest transformations in education came about as a result
of the ubiquity of internet in our lives. Online education allows us to
bring together the material and the student regardless of time and
space. It also help us benefit from the latest advances in technology to
maximize the learning experience. We have been following Turkcell’s work
in this field with a lot of interest and we believe that it is important
to make the most of this opportunity which brings together an education
institution with a connectivity company.” said Sanjay Sarma, MIT’s
Director of Online Learning.
Turkcell Academy was relaunched as a public, digital platform on January
14th, 2014. Over the course of its first year, the website has received
5 million visits from 1.5 million visitors. More than 2000 videos
currently available on the website are prepared with the cooperation of
leading Turkish and international content providers.
