Oxis Biotech Inc. Announces Appointment of Dr. James J Mulé to Scientific Advisory Board

TAMPA, Fla., Jan. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Oxis International, Inc. (OXIS) (OXI.PA) a biotechnology company focused on cannabinoid therapy development and commercialization, announced today, Dr. James J Mulé has joined the Scientific Advisory Board for its' wholly owned subsidiary, Oxis Biotech, Inc.

Dr. James J. Mulé, Ph.D. currently serves as an Executive Vice President and Associate Center Director for Translational Research, the Michael McGillicuddy Endowed Chair for Melanoma Research and Treatment, and the Co-Director of the Donald A. Adam Comprehensive Melanoma Center at the Moffitt Cancer Center. Previously, he was in Palo Alto, Calif., where he was involved in the birth of two startup companies while an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Surgery, Stanford University. He then moved to Ann Arbor, Mich., as the Director of the Tumor Immunology and Immunotherapy Clinical Research Program at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Mulé is recognized for his translational research studies in cancer immunotherapy. His research group is involved in vaccine strategies and other approaches to stimulate the immune system to recognize and destroy tumors. The work in these areas has helped to develop new treatments for advanced cancer patients. Dr. Mulé serves on the Advisory Boards of seven NCI-designated Cancer Centers and was a member of the NCI's Board of Scientific and Clinical Counselors. He served as Chair of the Cellular, Tissue and Gene Therapy Advisory Committee of CBER, FDA, and is a Special Government Employee of the NCI and the FDA. Dr. Mulé is recognized for his research and clinical contributions to cancer immunotherapy, particularly in solid tumors.
