TORONTO, Jan. 16, 2015 /CNW/ - In recognition of the challenging retail landscape and yesterday's announcement regarding the exit of Target from the Canadian market, Sears Canada wishes to do something meaningful to help employees affected by store closings and job losses and to do so in a respectful manner. In response, Sears is extending a special offer to Target Canada employees.
Sears Canada is encouraging Target Canada employees interested in job opportunities at Sears Canada to visit the Sears Canada Careers site at www.sears.ca, and select the "Careers at Sears" link at the bottom of the home page under About Sears Canada. Beginning early next week, the site will publish information on special events being planned by Sears regarding career opportunities such as local job fairs across Canada, where Sears can help match great candidates with their next career opportunity. There will also be an open invitation to Target Canada head office employees for a meet-and-greet with Sears executives and human resources experts on Wednesday evening, January 21, 2015 at Sears head office located at the Toronto Eaton Centre.
To help employees during this time of uncertainty, Sears Canada will offer affected Target Canada employees the Sears Canada employee discount for a period of 16 weeks. This discount is 25% on soft goods and 15% on hard goods and applies to both regular and sale prices with some exceptions. The offer will commence on Wednesday, January 21, 2015. Details will be available on www.sears.ca at that time.
