Sallie Mae – the nation’s saving, planning, and paying for college
company – and the Michigan Department of Treasury, will host a free,
30-minute webinar
on planning for college on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. EST. “Planning
for College Strategies” will provide Michigan families, high school
counselors and college access professionals with tools and resources
needed to build a plan to pay for college. Registration for the webinar
is available online at michigan.gov/mistudentaid.
The webinar is the first in a new series offered by the Michigan
Department of Treasury, Student Financial Services Bureau to share
information on funding post-secondary education and college access.
Representatives from Sallie Mae along with officials from the Student
Financial Services Bureau will share free college planning tools,
college cost calculators and other resources available to Michigan
families to make a plan for college.

financial aid programs and resources to help students pursue their
postsecondary educational goals,” said Anne Wohlfert, Director of the
Student Financial Services Bureau, Michigan Department of Treasury. “We
are excited to partner with Sallie Mae on the webinar as a resource to
help families navigate their way through saving, planning, and paying
for college.”

The Michigan Department of Treasury, Student Financial Services Bureau,
or SFSB, encourages students to pursue postsecondary education by
providing equality of access to student financial resources and
information. The SFSB website features financial literacy tools, videos,
and now webinars to educate families on preparing for college. The SFSB
will invite Michigan families and college access professionals to the
webinars monthly through email.
