JetBlue and Other Music Celebrate Record Store Day With a Special Live From T5 Music Showcase and Pop-Up Record Shop Experience - Tuesday, April 14

JBLU

Music Showcase to Feature Elle King, Caveman and Kevin Devine

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - April 09, 2015) - JetBlue Airways (NASDAQ: JBLU), New York's Hometown Airline today announces a special music showcase, including a pop-up record shop at JetBlue's Terminal 5 (T5) at JFK International Airport, as a precursor to Record Store Day. This Live From T5 concert will celebrate Record Store Day, an international annual tradition that honors independently owned record shops. Taking place on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 9am - 6pm, JetBlue and local record retailer, Other Music, will host an in-terminal record store experience complete with performances by artists spanning musical genres including country-blues-soul singer Elle King, punk pop artist Kevin Devine and indie rock band Caveman.

Record Store Day takes place on the third Saturday of April every year. JetBlue's Live From T5 preview showcase will provide travelers with a surprise mini record shop complete with turntable listening stations in addition to three very unique musical performances. The performances will take place throughout the day with Elle King performing at 12pm, Kevin Devine at 3pm and Caveman at 5pm.

Other Music, a New York City-based record shop specializing in underground, rare and experimental music, will sell records onsite and provide listening booths from 9am to 6pm. JetBlue's Mint experience headphone partner -- Grado Labs -- will supply the headphones for the turntable listening stations as well as offer some special giveaways and prizes for lucky customers.

"JetBlue started with the mission to bring humanity back to air travel. Our goal was to disrupt the model of what air travel had become and provide an outstanding experience. We celebrate brands and artists with a similar independent spirit," said Jamie Perry, vice president, brand and product development, JetBlue Airways. "As New York's Hometown Airline, we like to help preserve the things that make our city so unique. This special Record Store Day music showcase will support local record store -- Other Music, an East Village mainstay dedicated to preserving and honoring real music. Like Other Music, we also started out small with the goal of making a difference."

Live From T5 concerts are held post-security at T5 and are designed to enhance the overall customer experience. Performances are available exclusively to JetBlue ticketed customers. Since 2008, Live From T5 has been a platform for independent artists and performers on the cusp of mainstream acclaim including Icona Pop, Emeli Sandé, Ryn Weaver, Aloe Blacc, Allen Stone and Vance Joy, among others.

Artists performing at the Record Store Day Live From T5 concert include:

  • Elle King: In 2012, King released her debut EP, The Elle King EP. The EP track "Playing for Keeps" is the theme song for VH1's Mob Wives Chicago series. She released her full length debut album, Love Stuff, on February 17, 2015. King has also toured with acts such as Of Monsters and Men, Train, and Michael Kiwanuka. The first single from Love Stuff -- "Ex's & Oh's" -- was #1 Most Added at AAA radio upon release; Billboard called the track "catchy and clever."
  • Kevin Devine: Brooklyn singer-songwriter Kevin Devine is a powerhouse in the contemporary indie rock world. Devine began releasing solo records in 2002, slowly gaining steam through extensive touring and a steady release of increasingly impressive records. In 2009, Devine released Brother's Blood and the I Could Be With Anyone EP. After releasing three consecutive Billboard-200 charting records with 2011's Between The Concrete And The Clouds and the first two Bad Books albums (Devine's band with members of Manchester Orchestra), Devine looked to the crowd sourcing website Kickstarter to fund his next two records. The funds resulted in the simultaneous October 2013 release of Bulldozer and Bubblegum. The two records were Devine's highest-charting Billboard releases to date.
  • Caveman: As first albums go, Caveman's CoCo Beware was something akin to a moody statement of intent, a blueprint for a band quickly learning how to create horizon-wide rock songs that were equal parts intimate and expansive. The record brims over with four-part harmonies, crystalline guitar lines, and tracks that see-sawed between echoey and lullaby. The album quickly elevated Caveman from local band to watch to a formidable live act. Despite being the work of a brand new band, CoCo Beware displayed a kind of Zen-like ease. On their self-titled sophomore album Caveman stretch their legs in a number of different, albeit cohesive, directions.
