Global Partners LP’s Alltown convenience stores and the CF & MS Fund
Foundation, Inc. (“the CFMS Fund”) today announced donations of $400,000
each for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the National Multiple
Sclerosis Society through a combination of Alltown customer
contributions and other fund-raising activities by the Fund. The funds
raised will help support the missions of these organizations to find
cures for CF and MS, respectively.
“Through cutting-edge research, patient advocacy and education, the
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and National Multiple Sclerosis Society are
working tirelessly to realize their vision of a world free of these
diseases,” said Global Partners Executive Vice President Andrew Slifka.
“The Global family shares their commitment, having been personally
affected by these illnesses. We are honored by the generosity of our
customers and employees in helping us move closer to finding a cure.”
“We thank Alltown’s employees and customers, and the CFMS Fund, for
their incredible support of individuals and their families dealing with
multiple sclerosis,” said Lisa Gerrol, President and Chief Executive
Officer, National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter. “Their generosity is
emblematic of the amazing spirit and character of the Alltown team.”
Pamela Spitzer, Executive Director of the CF Foundation’s
Massachusetts/Rhode Island Chapter, said, “We are deeply grateful to
Alltown, its customers and the CFMS Fund for their financial support. It
is through extraordinary contributions such as these that we can
continue to make measurable strides in developing new therapies that
might lead to a cure for CF.”
The funds presented by Global and CFMS Fund to the Cystic Fibrosis
Foundation and the National MS Society were raised from a combination of
donations at Global’s Alltown locations throughout New England and a
number of unique fundraisers and campaigns by the Fund. Of the total
amount raised, $150,000 will be distributed to the Connecticut Chapter
MS Fund, which provides vital programs and services to the more than
6,300 Connecticut residents battling the potentially debilitating
effects of MS, while $250,000 will be distributed to the Society’s
Greater New England Chapter, which serves Maine, Massachusetts, New
Hampshire and Vermont. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will receive
$400,000.
About the CF & MS Fund Foundation
The CF & MS Fund Foundation Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
dedicated to raising funds and awareness in the fight against cystic
fibrosis and multiple sclerosis. The commitment to these two
non-affiliated diseases began many years ago from a personal family
connection to each disease. Today that commitment has evolved into a
successful donor-based, non-profit organization. Since the CFMS Fund's
inception in 2009 we have donated almost $3 million to the Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The
CFMS Fund is proud to support them. Together we are improving and
extending the lives of those living with CF and MS.
About National Multiple Sclerosis Society
The Society mobilizes people and resources to drive research for a cure
and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS. To fulfill
this mission, the Society funds cutting-edge research, drives change
through advocacy, facilitates professional education, collaborates with
MS organizations around the world, and provides programs and services
designed to help people with MS and their families move their lives
forward. To move us closer to creating a world free of MS, last year
alone, the Society invested $50.2 million to support more than 380 new
and ongoing research projects around the world while providing program
services to over one million people. Join the movement at www.nationalmssociety.org.
About the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world's leader in the search for a
cure for cystic fibrosis. The foundation funds more CF research than any
other organization and nearly every CF drug available today was made
possible because of foundation support. Based in Bethesda, MD, the
foundation also supports and accredits a national care center network
that has been recognized by the National Institutes of Health as a model
of care for a chronic disease. The CF Foundation is a donor-supported
nonprofit organization. For more information, go to www.cff.org.
