AECOM (NYSE:ACM) announced today that the U.S. Department of Energy’s
(DOE’s) Savannah River Operations Office in Aiken, S.C., has extended
the current liquid-waste-management contract with AECOM-led Savannah
River Remediation LLC for an additional two years.
This $797-million extension will run from July 1, 2015, to June 30, 2017.
“We are pleased to have been awarded this extension,” said Randy
Wotring, president of AECOM’s Management Services Group. “AECOM and our
heritage companies have a long history of supporting the DOE’s
environmental management program and have extensive experience in liquid
waste deposition, which includes the vitrification of high-level
radioactive waste and the closure of waste tanks.
“We are committed to safely processing the Savannah River Site’s
high-level radioactive liquid waste and reducing this environmental risk
in South Carolina.”
