Huron Consulting Group Bolsters Higher Education Practice with Strategy and Operations Expert

HURN

Huron Consulting Group (NASDAQ: HURN), a leading provider of business consulting services, today announced that Barbara Lombardo has joined its Huron Education practice as a managing director. Lombardo will serve as the leader for the Strategy & Operations service line, which focuses on helping higher education institutions better prepare for the future and achieve operational excellence.

“Our Higher Education clients remain pressured to lower the cost of education while improving student outcomes in a market that faces more value scrutiny than ever before,” said Laura Yaeger, executive vice president, Huron Education. “Barbara has a deep background helping private and public colleges and universities define their strategies, improve operating performance, and develop talent to achieve higher levels of impact. We are pleased to welcome her to Huron Education and the existing Strategy & Operations service line.”

Lombardo has nearly 25 years of higher education change management experience. She joins Huron Education from IBM Global Business Services where she served as partner and North America practice leader, Talent & Change Consulting. In that role she helped clients navigate organizational change and optimize their investment in talent. Prior to that position, Lombardo was a director in the higher education practice at PwC Consulting. Throughout her career, she has assisted companies, colleges and universities, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations to define their strategies, improve their processes, and develop their people. In addition, she also brings to the role her expertise in online learning, having led the design and operation of a major online learning program for the U.S. Army, involving collaboration with dozens of colleges and universities.

Lombardo has taught graduate courses in nonprofit management at Lewis & Clark College and Portland State University. She chaired the Board of Trustees of Montgomery School, and served on the Board of Trustees of Lafayette College. She was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of Gateway to College, a national nonprofit dedicated to helping struggling students earn a high school diploma and achieve college success.
