Updated: Harwood Feffer LLP Announces Investigation of Trinity Industries's Board of Directors in Connection with U.S. Department of Justice Investigation

TRN

NEW YORK, June 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Harwood Feffer LLP (www.hfesq.com) is investigating potential claims against Trinity Industries Inc. ("TRN" or the "Company") (NYSE: TRN) and certain of its officers and directors arising out of recent reports that a public corruption and special prosecutions unit of the U.S. Department of Justice is investigating the role of Trinity's guardrail systems linked to least eight deaths.  The reports indicate that Trinity is being investigated regarding its relationship with the Federal Highway Administration ("FHWA").  Federal investigators and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are interviewing potential witnesses about TRN's relationship with the FHWA and subpoenaed documents.

Harwood Feffer LLP

TRN is a diversified industrial company that owns market-leading businesses providing products and services to the energy, transportation, chemical, and construction sectors.  One of Trinity's five principal business segments provides highway products and maintenance services.

On June 9, 2015, Judge Rodney Gilstrap of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas ordered TRN to pay $663 million for defrauding the U.S. government.  The $663 million penalty ordered by Judge Gilstrap represents a $138 million increase over and above a jury verdict issued against TRN last year.
