ST. GEORGE, Utah, July 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- SkyWest, Inc., (NASDAQ: SKYW) ("SkyWest") today reported 176,695 block hours in June 2015, compared to 197,006 block hours in June 2014, a decrease of 20,311, or 10.3%. The net decrease was consistent with SkyWest's fleet transition plan of adding new dual class aircraft to its fleet, while reducing its 50-seat and 30-seat aircraft.
The month-over-month net change included approximately 9,400 additional block hours from its additional 76-seat E175 aircraft and a decrease of approximately 27,600 block hours from fewer 50-seat jet (CRJ200s and ERJ135s/145s) and 30-seat turboprop (EMB-120) aircraft operating fleet.
In June 2015, SkyWest's dual class aircraft (CRJ700s, CRJ900s and E175s) represented approximately 37% of SkyWest's total block hour production for the month compared to approximately 29% for the month of June 2014.
SkyWest reported 1,048,147 block hours for YTD June 2015, compared to 1,125,883 block hours for YTD June 2014, a decrease of 77,736, or 6.9%. The YTD net change included approximately 46,300 additional block hours from SkyWest's 76-seat E175 aircraft and a decrease of approximately 120,200 block hours from fewer 50-seat jet (CRJ200s and ERJ135s/145s) and 30-seat turboprop (EMB-120) aircraft in its operating fleet.
SkyWest had 104,441 departures in June 2015 compared to 117,663 in June 2014, a decrease of 13,222, or 11.2%. SkyWest generated 3.05 billion available seat miles (ASMs) for June 2015, compared to 3.32 billion ASMs for June 2014, or a 8.1% decrease.
SkyWest also reported 2.60 billion in revenue passenger miles (RPMs) for June 2015, compared to 2.81 billion in RPMs for June 2014, or a 7.5% decrease. SkyWest carried 4,972,163 passengers in June 2015, compared to 5,253,163 passengers in June 2014, or a 5.3% decrease. Load factor increased to 85.2 percent in June 2015 compared to 84.6 percent in June 2014.
