Close to 200 National Bank employees pedal to support youth

MONTREAL, July 13, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - With great enthusiasm and determination, 200 National Bank employees cycled the roads of Montérégie and the Eastern Townships to support young people in Quebec. This year, National Bank is proud to support organizations that also work to encourage young Quebeckers to reach their full potential.

National Bank's cyclists and volunteers managed to exceed the event's target and raised $125,000 during this 2015 edition. They have accomplished this for a fifth consecutive year of the One for Youth Bicycle Tour with smiles on their faces and pride in a job well done.

"Our employees' enthusiasm for the cycling tour has continued to grow over the past five years. It's a challenging activity that not only encourages personal growth but also supports the well-being of others—specifically, young people. In addition to the 200 or so employees who cycled the roads of Montérégie and the Eastern Townships, National Bank applauds the efforts of the volunteers, partners and supporters who once again made this event a success. This fifth edition shows how proud we are to be involved with youth and solidifies our commitment to this cause," said Éric Bujold, president, National Bank Private Wealth 1859 and chair of the board of the Fondation Québec Jeunes.

The funds raised by the Tour will support several Quebec-based foundations such as the Fondation Tel-jeunes and will provide funding to four organizations in Montérégie and the Eastern Townships, including the Fondation du Cégep de Granby, Saint-Joseph High School in Saint-Hyacinthe, the Maison des Jeunes-Est de Sherbrooke and the Croquarium, a nutrition education organization located in Waterville.

Since its beginnings, this initiative has raised nearly $400,000 for youth and has involved more than 700 employees.
