Farmers National Bank Announces Key Executive Positions in West Region

Farmers National Bank President and CEO Kevin J. Helmick announces the appointment of two key executive positions from the former First National Bank of Orrville that is now Farmers National Bank. Mark R. Witmer has been named Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Banking Officer and James (Jay) R. VanSickle has been named Senior Vice President, Chief Risk Officer. In addition, Farmers also announces the internal promotion of Joseph A. Gerzina to Senior Vice President, Chief Lending Officer, Regional President.

Mark R. Witmer served as President and Chief Executive Officer of National Bancshares and First National Bank for the past three years. He has over 25 years of expertise in community banking, credit evaluation and agribusiness. His extensive background enables Witmer to provide valuable insights while evaluating the business conditions for markets in which the Company operates, as well as future corporate strategies. In Witmer’s new position, he will create and execute a vision for all lending and credit functions in the East and West regions of the Bank’s footprint. His proven organizational leadership in these areas will be an asset to Farmers’ strategic growth plan. Witmer will serve as a Director of the Farmers National Bank Board.

James (Jay) R. VanSickle has over 20 years of experience as a financial executive and most recently served in a leadership role as the Chief Financial Officer for First National Bank of Orrville. In his new position as Chief Risk Officer at Farmers, VanSickle will be responsible for designing processes, policies and procedures to identify and manage threats to the overall operation of the Bank. He will also oversee and manage all compliance functions to ensure risk and compliance programs are in place. In addition, VanSickle will also serve as a Director of the Farmers National Bank Board.

Joseph A. Gerzina has been an executive with Farmers for over four years and, as Chief Lending Officer, is responsible for profitable growth of the Bank’s loan portfolio. He has more than 30 years of experience in banking with extensive knowledge in Commercial, Consumer and Wealth Management divisions. As Regional President, Gerzina will provide leadership and create a vision for the Bank’s continued organic and strategic growth in the West region markets. Gerzina will continue to serve as a Director of the Farmers National Bank Board.
